What is Shahi Sawari
The Madhya Pradesh state administration treats Lord Mahakal as the king of Ujjain. Once a week during Sawan, the king inspects his city. The procession runs through 8 km of old Ujjain. 5 different Shiva forms are carried on different palkis. Police on horseback lead the procession.
