The Shri Mahakaleshwar official website is www.shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in, the portal of the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee. On 5 Oct 2026 shrimahakaleshwar.com forwarded to it, so bookmark the .mp.gov.in address. mahakaleshwar.nic.in opens no website; it is an email domain only. This site is an independent guide, not the temple.
Checked on 5 October 2026. Method: each address was opened with a plain web request (no forms submitted, no account used), and the portal’s own front-end text was read for the service list and the contact page. The portal and the .com forwarding can change, so re-check the address bar before you pay.
Shri Mahakaleshwar official website: the address to type
Type www.shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in. It is the temple’s official portal, and the page title reads “Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, Ujjain”. The address ends in .mp.gov.in, which is the Madhya Pradesh government domain. If you type the bare host without “www”, it sends you on to the www address.
The portal is where devotees book services for the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga in Ujjain. It is also the only place to book Bhasma Aarti. Our Bhasma Aarti booking guide explains the process step by step, but the booking itself always happens on the portal, never on this site.
Many people type the name from memory, and spelling matters: only one spelling opens the portal under mp.gov.in. Others search for the mahakaleshwar official website and click the first result, which is not always the portal. The table below shows what each common address did on the day it was tested, so you can compare it with what you typed or what a message sent you.
What each address does today (tested 5 October 2026)
Each row below is one address that people type or search for. The “what happens” column records the result of a plain web request on 5 October 2026. The last column says what the address is, using neutral wording. The owners of the non-portal addresses could not be identified, so this page makes no judgment about their intent. It only says whether an address is the temple’s portal.
| Address you type | What happens (tested 5 Oct 2026) | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| https://www.shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in/ | Opens the portal | The portal |
| shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in (also typed as “shrimahakaleshwar mp gov in”) | Forwards to the www address | The portal |
| shrimahakaleshwar.com and www.shrimahakaleshwar.com | Forward to the portal (one hop on https, two hops on http) | Forwards to the portal |
| shreemahakaleshwar.com | Shows a “Website Coming Soon” page | Not the portal |
| shreemahakaleshwar.in | Opens a site with a different helpdesk and text about another temple | Not the temple’s portal |
| shrimahakaleshwar.online | Opens a site that shows a different helpdesk number from the portal’s | Not the temple’s portal |
| mahakaleshwar.com and www.mahakaleshwar.com | Opens nothing (server error) | Not the portal |
| mahakaleshwar.org | Shows a “domain for sale” parking page (some requests are blocked) | Not the portal |
| mahakaleshwar.nic.in and www.mahakaleshwar.nic.in | No website opens | Email domain only |
| shreemahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in | Nothing opens | Misspelling; not the portal |
| srimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in | Nothing opens | Misspelling; not the portal |
| mahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in | Nothing opens | Not the portal |
Only the “shri” spelling resolves under mp.gov.in; the other spellings in the table open nothing there. If a link ends in anything other than .mp.gov.in and asks you to pay, treat it as unverified until you have checked it against the portal. Results like these can change when a domain owner changes a setting, so every test claim carries its date.
The .com address and the old .nic.in name
shrimahakaleshwar.com
On 5 Oct 2026 this address forwarded to the portal, so bookmark the .mp.gov.in address instead. The forwarding is served from a host that is not a government server, so whoever holds the .com can change or remove it at any time. If it stops forwarding, treat it as unverified and go straight to the .mp.gov.in address.
Wikipedia’s article on the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga still lists the .com as the temple’s website. Treat that as history. It is a secondary source, and it does not show which address is the canonical one today. The canonical host is the .mp.gov.in portal.
mahakaleshwar.nic.in
You may still see this name on old pages and in emails. As of 5 Oct 2026 no website opens at that address. The nic.in name survives as the temple office’s email domain: the portal’s contact page lists office@mahakaleshwar.nic.in. A nic.in ending therefore does not prove that a website belongs to the government, and it does not make a site the temple’s portal. The portal itself sits on mp.gov.in.
This matters because some third-party pages still say the temple “moved” from nic.in to another address. What the tests above show is narrower: the portal is on mp.gov.in, and the nic.in name now serves email only.
What the official portal offers
The list below comes from the text the portal itself shows, read on 5 October 2026. It names services only. Fees are left out on purpose because they change, and each fee page on this site carries its own date. Confirm every service on the portal before you plan around it.
| Service listed on the portal | What the portal’s own text says | Read more |
|---|---|---|
| Bhasma Aarti booking | Online booking is on the official website only; regular and day-before quotas open at set times | See the booking lines below |
| Sandhya Aarti and Shayan Aarti booking | Open at 12:00 PM (Sandhya) and 4:00 PM (Shayan) daily, first come first served | Shayan Aarti |
| Sheeghra Darshan | Listed among the online services | Sheeghra and VIP darshan prices |
| Pujan and Abhishek booking | Listed with its own price list on the portal | Rudrabhishek booking |
| Donation and Annadaan | Listed as online services | temple donation and Annadaan |
| Daily Live Darshan | Listed on the portal | live darshan |
| Schedule of aarti timings | Published on the portal | Confirm times on the portal |
| Atithi Niwas (guest house) | Listed, but the portal’s own text is mixed on whether online booking is open | Check availability on the portal |
| Contact page | Lists the temple office phone numbers and an office email | See the five checks below |
One note on Atithi Niwas. The portal describes it in two ways: once as a service that will launch online soon, and once with a booking panel. Because the two statements disagree, this page does not say whether it is open. Check the portal on the day, and do not pay a third party for a room that the portal does not show.
Devotees also ask is there an official Mahakaleshwar app. That question has its own page; this one covers only the website address.
How booking works, in three lines
- For a shrimahakaleshwar booking of Bhasma Aarti, use only the portal, which is the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee’s own website.
- Per the portal’s booking panel on 5 Oct 2026, regular booking opens on the 1st of the previous month at 8:00 AM, and the day-before Tatkal quota opens at 8:00 AM the day before. Confirm both on the portal.
- Press reports from April 2026 put the Tatkal fee at ₹200 per person. The portal’s public text does not show that fee, so confirm it on the portal on the day.
The steps, the fee details and the booking limits sit in the booking steps and rules page, so they are not repeated here.
Is it the real portal? Five quick checks
Each check takes seconds on a phone.
- Read the address bar. It should read www.shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in and end in .mp.gov.in.
- Compare the helpline. The temple portal’s contact page lists 0734-2550563, 0734-2559277 and the toll-free number 18002331008 (checked 5 Oct 2026). If another site shows different numbers, do not pay there until you have matched it to the portal.
- Read what the committee says. An undated Malwa Herald report says the committee has signed no MoU or authorised contract with any private online website for darshan, abhishek or puja, and urges devotees to use only its authorised website.
- Type the address yourself. A link from an ad, a WhatsApp message or an agent is no reason to trust a site.
- Do not pay anyone who offers to unlock a seat. Permits come from the portal, not from a middleman.
Police have shut fake temple-booking sites before. In June 2025 Ujjain Police closed nine fake websites that sold guest-house bookings, as The Tribune reported. That case does not name any address in the table above, so do not read it as a verdict on them.
If you already paid a site that is not the portal
Keep the transaction ID and take screenshots of the page, the chat and the payment. Tell your bank or payment app as soon as you can. You can also report it on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, which has a financial fraud complaint option. No one can promise that money will come back, so act quickly and keep records.
About this page
bhasmaartibooking.com is an independent guide. It is not the temple’s website and does not sell tickets or permits. Bookings are made only on the temple portal, www.shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in. The full offline checklist is in the guide. The portal and its typed addresses may change, so re-check them before you pay.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the official website of Shri Mahakaleshwar temple Ujjain?
The temple’s portal is www.shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in, run for the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee. It ends in .mp.gov.in, the Madhya Pradesh government domain. Addresses and portal text were checked on 5 October 2026 and can change, so read the address bar on the day you book.
Is shrimahakaleshwar.com the official website?
On 5 Oct 2026 shrimahakaleshwar.com forwarded to the portal at www.shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in, one hop on https and two on http. It is not the portal’s own address, and its owner could not be identified. Bookmark the .mp.gov.in address. If the forwarding stops, treat the .com as unverified.
Is mahakaleshwar.nic.in still the official website?
As of 5 Oct 2026 no website opens at mahakaleshwar.nic.in. The nic.in name survives as the temple office’s email domain, and the portal’s contact page lists office@mahakaleshwar.nic.in. A nic.in ending does not prove that a website is the temple’s, so always use the .mp.gov.in portal for booking.
Are shreemahakaleshwar.com or shree and sri mahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in real?
Only the “shri” spelling resolves under mp.gov.in. As tested on 5 Oct 2026, shreemahakaleshwar.com showed a Website Coming Soon page, and shreemahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in and srimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in opened nothing. None of these is the temple’s portal. If a message or ad points you to one of them, type www.shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in yourself.
Is there a login on the Mahakaleshwar website?
No login text was seen in the portal’s public front end on 5 Oct 2026, so this page cannot say how sign-in works. The booking form asks for a mobile number and ID. Follow what the screen asks, and only on www.shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in, never on a link sent to you.
Is there an official Mahakaleshwar app?
This page does not confirm any app. Booking is described on the web portal at www.shrimahakaleshwar.mp.gov.in, and that is the address to rely on. The app question has its own page on this site, linked in the services section above. Whatever you install, check it against the portal first.
