Shayan Aarti is the last aarti of the day at Mahakaleshwar Temple. It runs 10:30 PM to 11:00 PM. After this, the temple sleeps until 3 AM. The aarti is open to all and does not need a paid pass.

What happens during Shayan Aarti
The deity is dressed in night attire (silk dhoti, white shawl) and the priest offers betel leaves, betel nut, and milk. The conch shell is blown 3 times to announce sleep. The sanctum is then sealed for the night.

- Reach Gate 1 by 10:00 PM
- Show ID at security (no booking needed)
- Walk to the sanctum, sit on the right side for the best view
- Stay till the conch is blown
- Exit by 11:15 PM

Shayan Aarti is the only aarti where Lord Shiva is symbolically put to sleep. The sanctum is closed for 4 hours after this until Bhasma Aarti opens it. Devotees believe this aarti grants sound sleep and peaceful dreams.
